Buffalo, N.Y. — In a disturbing incident, 36-year-old Jamar Harris of Buffalo is facing serious charges after allegedly holding two women captive for two days at a residence on Moselle Street, according to authorities.

The harrowing ordeal came to light on January 1 when an unidentified woman bravely escaped the house by jumping from the second story. A concerned passerby rushed her to ECMC (Erie County Medical Center), where she disclosed shocking details of her captivity, claiming she was held against her will by Harris and subjected to sexual assault at knifepoint. She received medical attention for injuries to her face, shoulder, and back.

As law enforcement initiated an investigation, they discovered a second woman at a nearby convenience store. She, too, was transported to ECMC, where she confirmed the location of the house and was able to identify it. Both women, aged 33, were treated for their injuries and subsequently released from the medical center.

Harris was apprehended on Saturday and now faces a litany of charges:

  • First-degree rape (one count)
  • First-degree criminal sexual act (one count)
  • First-degree assault (one count)
  • Second-degree assault (one count)
  • Second-degree strangulation (one count)
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (two counts)
  • Second-degree menacing (two counts)

Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be added as the investigation progresses.

The Buffalo Police Department expressed its commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and stated that the safety and well-being of the community remain their top priority. The courageous actions of the victims, coupled with the swift response from law enforcement, highlight the importance of community vigilance and support in combating such heinous crimes.

Harris is expected to face a court appearance where he will answer to the charges brought against him. The case serves as a stark reminder of the need for continued efforts to address and prevent instances of violence against vulnerable members of society.
